Flora late-1960s painting
2012 limited edition prints available

Jim Flora Art has released a limited-edition, archival-quality fine art print of a Flora painting entitled Charles, Mother Has Come to Stay. Although the work is undated, Flora archivists Barbara Economon and Irwin Chusid have determined that the figures and colors reflect Flora's late-1960s technique. We don't know who Charles was, nor do we know anything about his (presumed) mother-in-law, but something about the bonus appendages suggests a mutant gene pool. The work, which was uncirculated during the artist's lifetime, was reproduced in The Curiously Sinister Art of Jim Flora (p. 50).

Only twenty-five (25) prints of Charles, Mother Has Come to Stay were produced for this edition. Each print is hand-numbered in the lower right corner beneath the image and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal of Jim Flora Art (a Flora family enterprise). We have sold print numbers 22/25 thru 25/25, and are now offering numbers 20/25 and 21/25, unframed, for $180.00 each. Prices will increase for subsequent prints as the edition depletes.

Produced by Flora archivist Barbara Economon with state-of-the-art digital technology, the prints have been meticulously crafted and painstakingly replicated from a high-resolution scan of the original painting, a tempera on paper. All elements of the artist's work have been retained, including the title in pencil at the lower left. All aging artifacts, including faded hues and discoloration due to light exposure and climate variations over the ensuing decades, have been retained. Other than intensified contrast on the artist's signature at the lower right, the image has been reproduced exactly as it currently exists. The aging artifacts do not detract from the overall impression of the work.

The image area is 9-1/2" high x 14-3/4" wide and centered on a sheet 11" high x 17" wide. The prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced on an Epson 3800Pro large format printer using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.

The print will ship flat, securely packaged and guaranteed against bending or dents. Print includes a detailed, custom-printed one-sheet with instructions for the proper care of this fine art reproduction.

Due to the fine art print's higher-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than the work as reproduced in the book. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.
