slight makeover

July 30, 2013

The JimFlora.com homepage, long overdue for an update, finally got one. Besides our forthcoming book, The High Fidelity Art of Jim Flora (due September 7 from Fantagraphics), you’ll find a first announcement about a Flora centennial exhibit at Silvermine Arts Center in September 2014. We’ve also added Amazon.com links for our two Flora children’s books reprinted by Enchanted Lion. In the coming weeks we will post information about several additions to our fine art prints catalog.

There are presently twenty different page headers at JimFlora.com. Each time you visit the site or refresh the page, the image changes. Because they rotate at random, some images will recur multiple times before you see them all. It’s a Zen exercise. Mixes well with rum. There’s also nine footers at the bottom of the homepage.

We don’t change header images at JimFlora.com every week; headers change as often as you refresh the page. There are more than a dozen frisky images in random rotation, with two new ones added — and two old ones shelved — every couple of weeks. They don’t rotate in sequence; you might have to refresh 50X to view them all. There’s also a half-dozen footers, in case you’re inclined to scroll downward. Detail, Saturday Night…

Jim Flora CD Gallery

June 10, 2008

Extending the Flora album cover tradition, contemporary designers have been licensing Jim Flora images for CDs. At JimFlora.com, we’ve launched a gallery of recent digital releases that have been Floradized. Interested in using Flora art for your CD? Just ask.

My article about Flora which appeared in the August 2007 issue of Juxtapoz is now posted at JimFlora.com. Two footnotes:1) Typos and lamentable editorial “improvements” in the print version have been emended;2) Since the Flora works which illustrated the print version are already prominently displayed elsewhere on the site, I substituted new (and in some cases previously uncirculated) images.

Mr. Otis Fodder has completed his technical, systematic, and cosmetic overhaul of JimFlora.com. Visit, please.

JimFlora.com to get new look

February 24, 2008

JimFlora.com has retained the erstwhile talents of Mr. Otis Fodder (of The Bran Flakes fame) to redesign the site. Launch is expected in a week or so. Meanwhile, the Primer for Prophets and Manhattan prints are now available thru JimFloraArt.com, the Flora family’s official website.

JimFlora.com updated

February 6, 2008

Some long overdue updates at JimFlora.com, including recent News briefs on the homepage, a one-sheet about the just-released limited edition Jazz Quintet fine art print, and a glimpse at the forthcoming Primer For Prophets silk-screen series on the Merchandise page. On the Miscellany page, you can download a pdf of a terrific January 2008 article (“Lowbrow Genius”) about Flora that appeared in Knoxville Metro Pulse. The article also appears online, but the print version (as…

JimFlora.com finally updated!

September 19, 2007

Long overdue. Sorry. Not that anyone was expecting apologies. Please visit. Lots of new content: 63rd Street fine art print page; Fantagraphics Gallery exhibit poster; more LP covers that are commonly mistaken for Flora designs; and a progress report on the Primer for Prophets series. The Railroad Town page has been updated. We also corrected typos, fixed broken links, and rearranged the furniture. You almost wouldn’t recognize the place, except that it’s still populated with…
