Description

JimFlora.com is offering a limited-edition, archival-quality fine art print of the renowned (and hard-to-find) Jim Flora 1955 Mambo for Cats RCA Victor album cover.

Produced in 2013 by Flora archivist Barbara Economon, the print was meticulously crafted from a scan of a vintage printer’s proof of the cover held in the Flora family archive. The print image measures 11-1/2″ square on an untrimmed 13″ x 19″ sheet. Each print is hand-numbered on the front and authenticated on the reverse with a stamp of Jim Flora Art (a Flora family enterprise). The trademark “Flora” signature, which did not appear on the original LP cover, has been added in the lower right to “brand” the work.

We have issued this work in a limited edition of two hundred (200) prints. We have sold numbers 143/200 thru 200/200, and are now offering numbers 130/200 thru 142/200 for $165 each (plus shipping). Prices will increase for subsequent prints as the edition depletes. The unframed prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.

In 2006 we introduced a 20″-square screen print of this work in a limited edition of 200 copies. That edition sold out in 2012, with the final prints selling for $325.00 each. We no longer have stock of the screen prints, although edition prints might be found on the secondary market. To ensure the exclusivity of those edition prints, we will never again offer the Mambo For Cats cover at that size (or comparable) in screen print format. This 2013 giclée is 40% smaller than the screen print and was produced on different paper with different inks via an entirely different printing process. One other significant difference: the screen print was on cream-colored stock; the gicleé stock is white. (For further details on our limited edition protocols, read this.)

The print ships flat, securely packaged and guaranteed against bending or dents. If it arrives damaged, it will be replaced. Print includes a detailed, custom-printed one-sheet with instructions for the proper care of this fine art reproduction.

Due to the fine art print’s higher-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than the online image. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.

MINI-MAMBO prints also available!
Limited budget (or wall space)? We also offer a 7″ x 7″ archival-quality, open edition giclée print of this work, priced at $25.00 each.
