63rd Street

early 1950s tempera on paper
2007 ltd. ed. (10) fine art print

SOLD OUT

Description

This was a limited-edition, archival-quality fine art print of an undated Jim Flora painting entitled 63rd Street. Flora archivists Barbara Economon and Irwin Chusid have determined that the style reflects a number of works from Flora’s 1950-51 Mexican hiatus, and likely dates from this period. The work was reproduced in the 2007 book The Curiously Sinister Art of Jim Flora (p. 42).

Only ten (10) prints of 63rd Street were produced for this edition. Each print was hand-titled and numbered in the lower corners beneath the image and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal of Jim Flora Art LLC (a Flora family enterprise). The edition is sold out, and we no longer offer this work as a fine art print in wall display-sized format. It may only be offered in reduced form in print items such as cards, calendars or art folios. The sale price of the final print was $695.00. Edition prints in private hands might appear on the secondary market, but we do not arrange such offerings and will not be personally involved in secondary sales.

Produced by Flora printmaker Barbara Economon, the prints were meticulously replicated from the original painting using state-of-the-art digital technology. A high-resolution scan was made of the original work, a tempera and watercolor on heavy paper, measuring 7-1/8″ high x 16-3/16″ wide. All aspects of the original artwork have been retained, including minor aging artifacts which in no way detract from the overall impression.

The print image area is 8″ high x 19″ wide — slightly larger than the original work — and centered on a sheet 17″ high x 22″ wide. The unframed prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.

The print will ship flat, securely packaged and guaranteed against bending or dents. (If it is damaged in shipping, it will be replaced.) Print includes a detailed, custom-printed one-sheet with instructions for the proper care of this fine art reproduction.

Due to the fine art print’s higher-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than those in the book. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.
