Description

JimFlora.com has released a limited-edition, archival-quality fine art print of a colorful Flora painting entitled Little Rock Getaway. Although the work is undated, Flora archivists Barbara Economon and Irwin Chusid have determined that the figures and colors reflect Flora’s late-1960s technique. The title was hand-written by the artist in pencil on the reverse. Although the work shares the title of a 1930s jazz standard composed by Joe Sullivan and recorded by numerous artists, the significance of Flora’s reference is unknown. The previously uncirculated work was first published in the 2009 book The Sweetly Diabolic Art of Jim Flora.

Produced by Flora archivist Barbara Economon, the prints have been meticulously replicated from the original work using state-of-the-art digital technology. A high-resolution scan was made of the original work, a tempera on Crescent board. All elements of the original artwork have been retained, including minor aging artifacts which in no way detract from the overall impression. A late-1960s vintage “Flora” signature, absent from the original work, has been added in the lower right of the print.

Only twenty-five (25) prints of Little Rock Getaway were produced for this edition. Each print is numbered in the lower right corner and titled in the lower left beneath the image, and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal of Jim Flora Art (a Flora family enterprise). We have sold print numbers 21/25 thru 25/25, and are now offering print numbers 16/25 thru 20/25 for $185 each (plus shipping). Prices will increase for subsequent prints as the edition depletes.

The image area is 6-7/8″ high x 20″ wide—the same size as the original work—on a trimmed sheet 8.5″ high x 22″ wide. The unframed prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced on an Epson 3800Pro large format printer using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.

The print will ship flat, securely packaged and guaranteed against bending or dents. Print includes a detailed, custom-printed one-sheet with instructions for the proper care of this fine art reproduction.

Due to the fine art print’s higher-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than the online image. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.
